Hunting Event – “Elysian Supply Cache”

The Elysian Loyalists have once again decided to open their equipment cache to reward all second wave colonists for their assistance in strengthening the colonies of Next Island. Suit up and join your fellow colonists in claiming your share of the cache! Clearing a path for additional colonization of Next Island, those who wish to reap the rewards of this event will need to quell the populations of select creatures on Next Island and Ancient Greece.

Event time:

00:01 April 20th -> 23:59 May 20th 2024

Rules:

Each of the highest 300 qualifying hunting globals at the end of the event period will count as a single point. The 50 players with the highest points will receive their share of the cache based on the amount of points they obtain. Ties will be decided by the highest single loot between two hunters with equal points. The event will be tracked live by the Entropia Life event system, and verified at the end by MindArk.

Notes:
Team globals will not qualify. Shared loot mobs obviously will not qualify unless killed solo. (thus appearing as a normal global)

Register for the event on EntropiaLife.com to track your real time score. All qualifying globals will be tracked for this event.

Qualifying creatures:

Sharks, Great White Sharks, Daudaormur (not Enslaved), Sand Boar, Desert Crawler, Brontes, Steropes, Myrinian and Zeus.

Disclaimer: If there should be questions about a global, it’s the players responsibility to be able to prove said global. So take screenshots to make that process as smooth as possible.

Release Notes 17.23.0

New Content:

Next Island celebrates becoming a teenager with 13 new micro estates in the fishing lake. Some deeds will be available via auction later in December and some will be given as prizes in hunting events at the Spartan Training Grounds 1-3 of December and via a photo contest. (more info on the forum and the “teeni-competition” channel on Discord.
A Holiday quest will be available at Crystal Lake on Carnival Island until the end of December (and probably a little longer) with a small bonus to ‘True Islanders’.
A daily fishing quest has been added with skills as rewards.
Yule Daudaormurs have been spotted in four locations to the south west, and they seem to have devoured massive amounts of Boars.
Forbidden fishing areas have been added. You have been warned.
Snow has fallen on parts of Carnival Island and a smaller racetrack in the ‘heart’ has been created for players to use for events or just to play in the snow. Use bumper cars for maximum ‘fun’.
A faster way to reach the Magical Forest is next to the Kamba teleporter.
Shepherd’s Beach also has a faster way to reach the micro estates and are placed next to the teleporter.

Changes/Fixes:

Minor adjustments to Lodestone Reach mining materials.
The Ancient Greece Vases have had their names shortened.
Revive added to Delphi teleport.
Vulcan drakes and Asterion, both lower maturities have increased density.
The bartenders at Crystal Peak now offer drinks.
The Papoo spawner near Crystal Peak has been disabled for now.
Paradise Landing has an ad screen and the teleporter has moved slightly and the same teleporter is now a default one.
People have stopped throwing their hats in the fishing lake.
The Wild Boar spawn has expanded north and driven the Chimeras to sea.
The Shark Pond (PvP) is more dense again.
Adjustments have been made to the Sweatbot.
The Ghostly Screechers in the Magical Forest are now shared loot.
The new player spawn should now not exclude any newborns from becoming ‘True Islanders’.
Bonerattle Cove now has all terminals.
The Holiday Cookie can now stack more than 10 at a time.
Some of the fishing timers have been lowered.
Loot has been adjusted in an effort to have the amounts of different crystals (mostly) more balanced. To be continued.

  • After some much needed maintenance, Orpheus’ Way Teleporter has returned!
  • The Papoo Wavespawners should now correctly spawn the Papoo King and not Salvador Papoo.
  • A flowerport added to Lodestone Reach as well as another sneaky one.
  • Fishing has been tweaked slightly regarding both the area but also the quests (mostly regarding texts)
  • Tech chips can now be refined to broken tech chips.
  • Baby bottle has been told off by its parents and lowered its demands.
  • Due to many requests (well one), you can now see all the Hoarders options in the tent.
  • The (unused) land areas have been removed from the map.
  • The carnival island revive has been moved again, but not far.
  • The Paint can BPs have or will shortly be removed from the crafting loot. (there is another way to find the paint cans now)

And said BPs are temporarily back into the tailoring/textiles book but will be removed from it in an upcoming VU and moved to the “Old” book. If you do not remove them before that time they can’t be accessed manually anymore. Can still be crafted though.

Development for Hire

The Next Island Development Team is proud to offer customization of vanity items within the Entropia Universe. This can include adjusting or redesigning your NI estate, designing and purchasing custom clothing for your society or avatar, or even something more creative that you come up with!

To be clear:

No core economy related elements are an option. We will not be engaging in any vanity asset development that can be accomplished with the current crafting system.  So no solid black coats 🙂

The goal of this is to enable logos, images, text or other branded content to be placed on your clothing, flag, etc in order to create a more customized, personalized experience for individuals and societies within the Entropia Universe. Or to create a unique estate outside the limitations of what is currently available within the Entropia Universe.

The baseline fee structure is as follows:

Basic, entry level re-adjustment of your estate using existing models/assets, ie moving trees, buildings, pathways, guardrails, terminals etc, but not designing any new models
5000 ped ($500 USD).

Complete estate re-design with new/custom models will be addressed on a case by case basis depending on the complexity of the new custom models, beginning at a base minimum of  10000 PED ($1000 USD)

Custom clothing, flag, society item will be a flat fee for the design, balancing, approval, and creation, then a smaller fee per quantity of item released in game.
10000 PED ($1000 USD) for creation, 500 PED ($50 USD) per item released

Some factors to consider:

All players/designers will be required to sign a standard Release of IP before any development will take place. Any vanity assets created by the Next Island Development team will be the intellectual property of the Next Island Team.

That being said, an agreement will be made with the player requesting and funding the development of custom vanity assets, defining the rules of distribution and use.

Examples:

  1. A clothing item built for a certain society shall be used solely for that purpose. It will be the designers responsibility how those assets are distributed and/or reclaimed. NI nor MA will intervene nor manage who is and isn’t allowed to hold these assets. Nor will NI or MA distribute custom vanity content in any other fashion other than what the requestor and NI established in their original agreement.
  2. If a player wishes to have a custom castle built on an estate they own, this will be an option. The cost will increase if they desire this model to be unique to their estate. The cost will decrease if the player agrees that the asset may be used in other locations. In other words, models with a one use permit will cost more.

Custom vanity assets will be reviewed not only from an economic perspective within the Entropia Universe, but an aesthetic perspective. It will be at the discretion of the NI development team and MindArk’s art direction team, what aesthetics will and will not be allowed.

Additional Notes:

This is a first phase experimental program in which we are attempting to enhance the player experience. We will pursue this on a case by case basis, and iterate on the program over time to create the best customization process possible for players. The Next Island Team reserves the right to refuse development of custom vanity assets at their sole discretion.

Additional Item Points:

Additional item points for shops will be treated on a case by case and may not be possible in some cases. For example no additional points for stalls is possible

  • Increased density for a number of spawns. Highest levels of Drakes, Desert Crawlers, Arges low level, Centaurs, Portal Guardians (White Wastelands), Bullman (Sparta), Male Screechers (Screechers Hollow) and Brown Papoos (Serpentine).
  • Guest mob at the Wet Circle.
  • Ship Collision Site (event area) in AG has been removed for the moment due to it not working properly.
  • The area formerly known as the Ship Collision Site now has a safe zone on the east side of the ship, making it possible to swim or drive to the mainland without meeting any sharks.
  • Sweat bottle quest adjusted to make it possible to exit the last dialogue and click again without having to relog.
  • Some Teleporters in AG have been moved slightly to better fit the area. (Cylades, Pergamon, Abdera, Larissa and Knossos)
  • The small lake/river in the northern parts of the PvP4 area in AG has been smoothen a little bit to hopefully prevent getting stuck.
  • The TP at Serpentine has been replaced to prevent getting stuck under it. However, the easter egg is still there and has been extended…
  • Some trees have been removed in Hero’s Folly to make it smoother and as well the ground has been altered in some parts. The mobs are now all the highest level of that mob. (C.A.R.E., Female Screechers, Daudaormurs, Mutant Boars and Island Sharks) The “bonus” mobs are the same as before. (Giant L.A.R.A./Grey Papoo/Ghostly Screecher)
  • Kylon’s Blue/Lesser Elysia now shows the more correct BP icon.
  • There are now only Male Screechers at the top of Screechers Hollow. (The Female Stalkers are now fully settled in inside Heros’ Folly)
  • The revive at Sparta now offers free healing.
  • The holiday themes are gone from Crystal Peak and the Colosseum for this year. The hidden presents on Carnival Island are also gone, but might make a welcomed (read hated) return later this year.
  • Some estates (including the stable) used to show item points that did not really exist. They have now been removed from the sign posts so now only the actual points should show.
  • The Spawns closest to Sparta have been moved even closer and the turrets have as well been placed closer to the TP.
  • The turrets on Carnival Island that didn’t work effectively on longer range, now should. It does however depend on the mob level how far away it kills them.
  • The turret in White Wastelands now actually work.
  • A small mob spawn has been added to parts of the PvP4 area in AG. (the area is small, not the mob)
  • A couple of new ores/enmatters have been added to Lodestone/Orion’s/Wildlands.
  • The physical size of Jarassis and Jaws have been increased to make it more clear when they spawn. (Heros’ Folly)
  • A few light sources have been added to the Island Shark spawn in Hero’s Folly as well as smoothing out the ocean floor.
  • The almost naked lady (Tina) inside the Crystal Lake building (Carnival Island), can now offer that extra plushie for those that started the NI/Cyrene Crossover mission on NI. (Just make sure that you have the NI note and the Cyrene plushie in your inventory. They can’t be inside a storage unit)
  • The Beach Chair and the Beach Table are now listed under Furniture and not Decorations. The chairs can as well be sat on now.
  • Some of the NPCs at Thebes Market have been temporarily hidden to see if that will improve the lag issues in that area.
  • The daily quest to hunt Screechers now has the word “Male” in it to make it more clear.
  • The Magical Forest is again only inhabited by the smaller Ghostly Screechers. The Giant ones can only be found in Heros’ Folly.
  • The daily mining quest inside the Resa V.I.P. tent now says the correct reward values.
  • The “flowerport” at the wet circle has been moved slightly closer to the center.
  • The Portal Guardian spawns in the White Wastelands have been moved a little bit closer to the entrance/exit. And some adjustments have been made to the ground/trees to make it more clear where the different maturities start/end.
  • Zeus at Rhodes has been made into shared loot and has moved a tiny bit.
  • Some of the Screechers at Crystal Peak should be of a higher level now.
  • The turret in Heros’ Folly is now set to short range, meaning only a small area near the entrance is “safe”. It can’t reach the sharks.
  • A house (estate) was added next to Crystal Mountain Resort Lodge 1A to solve an issue with duplicate deeds. As such it will not be auctioned off but handed to the specific player to correct the issue.
Next Islands holiday mission is now active!
Go see Rudolphina inside the building at Crystal Lake to get your mission to find the hidden presents on Carnival Island, and then just a tiny thing after that.
The cost to start it is 1 Bronze Carnival Ticket. (Which are craftable via the free blueprints you get from a simple exploration mission at the Carnival Entrance Teleporter.)
The quest will be active the rest of the year! 😉
Happy holidays to you all.

Greetings Entropians,

It is with a heavy heart we regret to inform our community that David Post, the founder and visionary of Next Island, has passed away. As his friends and family celebrate his legacy, we hope all of those who have enjoyed participating in his vision being brought to life will do the same.

David was a kind man, with a fun vision for Next Island and a playful sense of humor. The origins of Next Islands lore are rooted in a childhood dream of his that he always wanted to see come to life, and fortunately for everyone, his story has been immortalized on Next Island.

One of David’s commonly spoken fond memories was Coney Island amusement park near where he grew up. So in his honor, and with his family’s blessing, Next Island will be developing an annual celebration with lighthearted games and activities.

For now, please feel free to visit the statue of Vice Admiral Post at Paradise Landing on Next Island to pay your respects to the man who made this all possible, and whose legacy will continue to live on for many years to come.

Respectfully,
The Next Island Development Team

Next Island and MindArk have been closely monitoring the popularity and performance of Ancient Greece shares since their release, and have agreed to take efforts to improve revenue share distributions for Ancient Greece shareholders.

The Next Island team has been humbled by and thankful for the community’s support of our efforts to breathe new life into Next Island. Your faith in our development and contributions to the community of our planet means a lot to our hard-working team. In turn, we feel we have enough information at this point to make a sensible reduction in the total number of Ancient Greece shares available, which will of course increase revenue share distributions for current and future shareholders.

Accordingly, 350,000 Ancient Greece shares will soon be removed from Next Island’s remaining (unsold) share holdings, resulting in 400,000 total outstanding Ancient Greece shares (compared to the 750,000 shares originally created). This new total number of shares will continue to receive 50% of Next Island’s portion of Ancient Greece revenue, and thus represents a significant increase in expected revenue distributions per share.

We feel that this change will position Ancient Greece shares on a par with other successful share and deed offerings in Entropia Universe, while still providing ample resources for our team to continue expanding and improving Next Island and Ancient Greece moving forward.

Thank you for your continued support,
Next Island Development Team

Please see below our latest update to Next Island. As always, should you come across any bugs/issues as a result of this update, please make a report in the Bug Report category of the forum. Be sure to include as much information and relevant screenshots as possible.

This VU has been a quieter update in terms of new content (usually the case with post-summer VU for us) but a number of important bug fixes have been implemented.

We hope you enjoy this update and I look forward to seeing you in-game

Bug fixes:

  • Zeus has commanded turrets to be moved away from his vicinity.
  • As a result of pleasing the Gods, the teleporter at Rhodes has been returned.
  • You can now revive again at Troy.
  • The stalls in Ancient Greece will now function as proper shops, we have added 20IP to each AG stall as compensation for waiting.
  • The anti-gravity device around Crystal Peaks has been disabled, causing the stalls to be planted firmly on the ground again.
  • Turret outside the Gorgon Wave should no longer obscure the shop stalls.
  • Troy stalls have been moved slightly closer to the TP.
  • You can now buff up your Trojan and Hoplite armor with plates!
  • More particle effects have been pulled out of the 2 dimensional plane into our 3 dimensional setting (Improved Particle Effects).

  • The Ascension Strider now has a description.
  • Adjusted Desert Crawler Spawns.
  • The model in Conq’s Rest has been corrected.
  • All Gorgon upgrade item mission cooldowns are now removed.

Actioned by MA:

  • Next Island planet model in space has been updated with a new texture.

Next Island is excited to express our dedication and passion to grow the Entropia Universe with Unreal 5. The expanded capabilities of an advanced engine, as well as the mind blowing graphics allowed by such an upgrade will enable Next Island’s development team to truly reach for the stars when seeking new content for our wonderful community.

Our team is already well versed in Unreal development, and we look forward to the challenge and opportunity of creating new realms, exploring interesting opportunities using new modules, and stretching the already impressive limits of the powerful Unreal 5 engine. We support this decision by MindArk, and look forward to continuing to build a powerhouse game that we will all be able to enjoy for decades to come.

Thank you all for continuing to support us by enjoying Next Island!

New Content

We are happy and delighted to introduce a new armor, Ascension. This armor has been designed as the primary reward mechanism for the launch of our new initiative, the Next Island Community Recognition Program. This program will run for a probationary period, from March 2nd 2021 to October 2nd 2021. Through a variety of contributions and dedication, players CAN be awarded one piece of this armor set per month, allowing for a full set to be obtained during our test/probationary period. The armor is not account bound, and is thus tradeable.

You can view the armor below, and details concerning exactly what must be done to earn it will be posted here on the Next Island Forum and on our Facebook page in the next few days. We look forward to seeing players traipsing around Next Island and Ancient Greece in this gorgeous armor soon!

The new vehicle ‘Skyripper Loyalist (L)’  which is crafted from a blueprint received in the ‘Get Stel V.I.P. Status’ mission chain on Next Island, has been released with the incorrect item stats. The mission chains were approved, and activated, however it was determined that the ‘Skyripper Loyalist (L)’  item stats required additional adjustments to maintain balance within the EU economy and these missions were not switched off as intended before the latest VU. In an effort to prevent distribution of an item based on the currently incorrect stats, the ‘Get Stel V.I.P. Status’ quest have been temporarily deactivated.

Next Island and MindArk have discussed the options of decreasing the speed, acceleration and responsiveness of the Skyripper, or, adding a movement decay factor of 1PEC per KM that will also include a 1PEC active fuel consumption reduction. After careful review and discussion, Next Island has elected to apply the movement decay factor, to maintain the speed, responsiveness and ‘fun factor’ of the Skyripper, while also maintaining economic balance in the Entropia vehicle market.

A Hotfix for this adjustment will be scheduled in the coming weeks, and the associated mission chains will be reactivated at that time. Individuals part way through this quest at the time of deactivation will be able to continue from the same point in which they left off once the quest is reactivated. Existing ‘Skyripper Loyalist (L)’s will have the new stats applied retroactively.

This VU features Ancient Greece’s largest update in some time, with a quest chain that leads to unlocking a region where Enslaved Daudaormurs and the Gorgon will be available in two varied difficulty wave events.

Completing this quest line will also enable players to unlock the ability to build customizable Ancient Greece estates. When you finish the quest by killing the Gorgon and saving Ancient Greece, you will receive a Medal Of Heroism. This medal will allow the first six players who wish to purchase one of the six hero estates, the ability to do so.

The in depth quest chain begins at Orpheus Cave, speaking with a Harupex Elder NPC, and leads you through a series of trials that will engage you in a variety of challenges from all professions.

Additionally you will be sent on a quest to explore the hero estates of Ancient Greece. These are large, glamorous areas with abundant building options. In the next planet partner update, this process will consist of the new plot system, making it very easy to completely customize and build your own estate in Ancient Greece. Be warned though; without completing the quest chain, you will NOT be able to enter the Gorgon area without succumbing to a swift death.

Once this first chain is complete, a man named Aegeus can be found in the Gorgon Lair, ready to send you on to your next challenge. He will direct you on how to defeat the Gorgon’s Shade, the evil spirit remnant of the Dark Queen. This is the only way to loot the ultra rare Perfected Daudaormur Fang, the critical item needed to craft Perfected Gorgon Armor. In order to coax her out of her ethereal domain, you will need to obtain rewards from the three labors of Ancient Greece. You may even battle the gods! Good luck, and may the gods hasten thy winged feet!

With 3 new boss mobs, 8 new or reworked creatures, and a complete revamp of the structures on Ancient Greece, players will enjoy a fresh new look to an old favorite. Fight mighty Zeus and his lightning rage on Mount Olympus, or battle dangerously quick centaurs on the island nation’s east coast! Rest comfortable knowing you won’t clip through walls (hopefully) when walking around buildings in town, and enjoy the views buildings, statues, and pathways that have been painstakingly improved despite legacy development hurdles.

Infrastructure
Ancient Greece introduces a new revival cave, as well as optimization of the existing caves to more strategic locations for easy access back to your hunting or mining area. Many new teleports have been placed for convenience. Pits within the revival caves have been converted from frustrating suicide pits, to an enjoyable path from the underworld back to the surface of Ancient Greece.

Players can now find service centers and similar resources in Thebes Market, and in a building behind the statue on top of Thebes, as well as around the map in buildings near teleports.

The harbor has been touched up, adding missing stones, boats facing the correct directions, walls placed, and textures adjusted. Issues with estates on Next Island not having the correct item point values has been fixed as well. Those that own shops or wish to own shops should notice this and be able to place more items both interior and exterior.

Turrets have been placed around the map on Next Island and within Ancient Greece to create safe zones for players to recuperate between hunts.

At any time, feel free to contact one of our several in game Next Island MindArk Officials and ask questions about any of the new changes!

In Progress:
Hero Estates
Ancient Greece Hero Estates will be able to be claimed in the current version through completion of the primary Ancient Greece quest chain and purchase. When purchasing the estate, initially the player will receive an Estate Token that will allow them to claim the estate of their choosing from a Next Island official.

Development infrastructure of the Hero Estates is still under development and will be delivered by the next Planet Partner content Version Update. Should unforeseen delays occur in finalization of the plot system of these estates, owners of estates will be contacted by a Next Island official who will facilitate the placement of desired and approved Ancient Greece structures through the development team, which will be no less than 5 primary structures.
