Introduction to hunting on Next Island

This guide will learn you the basics of hunting on Next Island. If you are already a more experienced hunter, feel free to skip the basics part and head straight to the part about hunting on Next Island.

Basics of Hunting

To get started with hunting all you need is a weapon. If you do not have any weapon, you can buy one at the trade terminal. You will get experience with the weapon type you use. If you use knives for example, you will be a better knife fighter after the training, as well as getting better handling generally melee weapons. With growing experience, you can use stronger weapons of the type you learned. You can use and equip strong weapons when you start out, but since you are not trained at all you will miss most of your shots and waste your ammunition. Most important points you should remember:
– Choose a weapon of a type you like to hunt with
– Use a weapon you are maxed on or on which you have the skills to profit from the learning period of the weapon.
– Do not overkill during your hunt by using to strong weapons for small mobs.

Hunting on Next Island

Before you run to the trade terminal and buy some weapon, pass this sign, and go down the stairs to the small village. Speak to Joe the hunting instruction, he will give you some universal ammunition and a Elysia Prototype weapon you can use. He hits you up with the task to kill three nearby Papoo. Before you go to the Papoos I strongly advice you to visit Li the Healing Instructor first, there you will get a NI Herbbox New Settler Issue, a healing tool to keep you alive in case the papoo hit too hard. There are generally many people that can need help with the creatures around NI, a good start to get some daily missions is the Cartographer. He Will reward you for containing yellow papoo, screechers, village boars and grey papoo. Especially for starters it is a good way to start out doing his daily papoo missions.

This was just a small insight of how to get started with hunting on Next Island. There are loads tasks you can complete as a more experienced hunter as well, but I am not yet experienced enough to give you good advice on how to hunt those fiery drakes for example.

Good Hunt and take care.
